Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born in and was raised from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother is a former back-up singer of Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, her father was offered job as curator at The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historic landmark. The 2005 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan started singing in contralto with the youth choir and a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan did not get exposed to secular music until he was a teenager. "I began singing in solos in church, and somebody was urging me to sign up for a gospel recording when I was 11. But I wasn't prepared for it," she says. At that time, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I was able to sing "Accept the Grace of God" during It's Showtime at the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at thirteen. Sullivan was 15 when she first got signed by Jive Records. As a teenager She was signed by Jive Records. They recorded her complete album, but it was not made available for release. Sullivan was then removed from the record label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded some of the songs for her debut project, such as the brash single "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
